Queens Pride Parade!
It feels fitting that Election Day for the Queens DA's race falls during Pride month. A month of celebration and reflection, the roots of the LGBTQIA+ movement lie in challenging pervasive systems of oppression.
We have the opportunity to continue that tradition on June 25th.
Tiffany Cabán is a 31-year-old queer Latina public defender running to be the first progressive District Attorney in Queens. Cabán has spent her career defending New Yorkers who can’t afford to defend themselves. For decades, the Queens District Attorney threw people of color in jail for minor offenses — while letting the corrupt Queens machine and wealthy real estate developers off easy. As District Attorney, Cabán will fight for justice, not jails: working to decriminalize poverty, end mass incarceration, and tackle corporate crimes. As the only candidate with no corporate donations or real estate ties, we know Cabán is truly independent. Cabán’s victory in one of the largest DA’s offices nationwide would signify a massive win for criminal justice reform across America.
Cabán has received endorsements from a coalition of progressive, grassroots organizations and labor allies including: Make the Road Action Fund, VOCAL-NY Action, New York’s Working Families Party, Real Justice PAC, Citizen Action of New York, New York City Democratic Socialists of America, National Democratic Socialists of America, New York Progressive Action Network, New York State Immigrant Action Fund, Center for Popular Democracy Action, Our Revolution, Jim Owles Liberal Democratic Club, New Visions Democratic Club, No IDC NY, NASW-NYC PACE, Amplify Her, People for Bernie, Progressive Change Campaign Committee, Empire State Indivisible, One Queens Indivisible, 504 Democratic Club, Queens United Independent Progressives, StreetsPAC, Victory Fund, Red Canary Song, Regional UAW 9-A, Rockaway Revolution, New Queens Democrats, and Community Voices Heard Power!.
